VERPAN Fun 2DM - effective mother-of-pearl pendant light

Fun 2DM pendant light by Verner Panton made from real mother-of-pearl plates "Mother of Pearls" - the Fun 2DM designer pendant light, created in 1964 by the renowned designer and architect Verner Panton, truly deserves this nickname. A sea of shimmering mother-of-pearl chains gently moving in the wind forms the lampshade of this light, which not only serves as a source of light, but also fills any room with glamour as an exclusive piece of jewellery. Small stainless steel rings have been used to connect platelets of real mother-of-pearl, a popular material for jewellery and art objects with its iridescent surface that shimmers in the light, to form movable chains of different lengths. The shell chains hang elegantly from two shiny chrome-plated metal hoops and enclose the internal light source. A 400 cm long black textile cable runs from the chrome-plated canopy down to the body of the luminaire. The Fun 2DM pendant light can illuminate foyers and halls of hotels or other public facilities just as stylishly as private rooms. If you also want to take full advantage of the acoustic benefits of this light, place it where a breeze occasionally brushes the strings of shells and sets them in slight motion. When Verner Panton was not busy designing unusual seating furniture, he devoted himself to the world of lighting and expressed his love of unusual colours and forms in this area too. While the Fun lamp series with its chains of real mother-of-pearl does not necessarily reflect Panton's affinity for artificial materials, it is nevertheless one of his central works.
