Made in Italy - Murano glass designer table lamp Futura

This round-shaped table lamp was made traditionally with the best craftsmanship in Murano, the most popular glasswork island in the lagoon of Venice. A special technology enables experienced glass blowers to produce a lampshade which is one piece, but are glossy opal on one end and transparent on other. In the centre, at the transition from one colour to the other, a wide metal ring clearly separates the two areas. The light bulb is located in the opal area of the lampshade. Its light is attenuated by the glass, which is translucent but not completely transparent, and therefore shines without glare.

The Futura series of lights was originally an exclusive design for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. The Hangar Design Group was commissioned to redesign the cafeteria of the museum in the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni and designed a light called Peggy, which was both simple and sophisticated. The limited version of this light has now gone into series production in the form of the Futura model and can thus enhance private and public spaces throughout the world.
