Adjustable Malamata pendant light with spherical shade made of opal glass The Malamata pendant light consists of a slender, linear suspension and steel structure and a round diffuser made of mouth-blown opal glass. The latter hangs down from a rod with a counterweight mounted on the opposite section. This can be moved on the rod using a push button that releases a spring, allowing the position of the diffuser to be adjusted upwards and downwards. The LED bulb that is used illuminates the Glaskugel as an all-round sphere that immediately captivates the viewer and provides uniform lighting on all sides. The Malamata pendant light was named after the Israeli designers Kfir Schwalb and Orit Magia (Studio shulab). They refer to the Hebrew meaning of "above" and "below", which is reflected in the light's ability to be orientated. The Italian premium luminaire manufacturer Luceplan is responsible for the production.
