The PH 5 300 pendant light is, so to speak, the little sister of the PH 5 500, which was launched in 1958. It is a light featuring a multi-shade system made of metal, which provides completely glare-free light. The Danish designer Poul Henningsen, who collaborated with the manufacturer Louis Poulsen from 1925 until his death in 1967, laid the foundations for the lighting theory still employed by the company today with the PH 5 pendant light.

In 2017, Louis Poulsen launched the PH 5 300, a counterpart to the PH 5 500 that is smaller in diameter but otherwise identical in construction, and which now features a new look in brass and white. This colour combination creates a light output that lends a particularly warm ambience, as the reflective brass surfaces reflect the surroundings. It should be noted that the brass surface is untreated and will develop a lovely patina over time, a process that may already have begun at the factory.
